Maybe you’ve heard Prince Harry talk about how EMDR helped him. Or seen Miley Cyrus state that EMDR saved her life by helping her move past stage fright. These stories can make EMDR sound almost magical. But there’s solid science behind it, and it’s helping many people in ways both big and small.
What is EMDR?
EMDR therapy is a powerful and evidence-based psychotherapy technique that has proven effective in treating various forms of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR is recognised by organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and NICE as a recommended treatment for trauma survivors.
